Sarıyer SK is a Turkish football club from the Istanbul district and district of Sarıyer . The club played a total of 13 seasons in the Süper Lig in the 1980s and 1990s and is in 20th place in their all-time table .

history

founding

The Sarıyer Gençler Cemiyeti association was founded in 1920 in what was then Istanbul's district town and today's Sarıyer district . After the club had been represented in several departments such as football, volleyball and wrestling for about ten years , the club was closed again in 1930 due to a lack of demand. In 1932 the successor association was founded under the name Sarıyer Gençler Mahfili . This club took part in the regional league until 1938. After that, the interest decreased due to the lack of organization of the club management.

This circumstance fell on several people in the then district town and so several notables of the city came together and founded the association Sarıyer Gençlik Kulübü . The club name was later changed to Sarıyer Spor Kulübü .

Entry into professional football and promotion to the Süper Lig

After playing in regional amateur leagues for over twenty years, the club took part in the newly founded second-highest Turkish league, today's TFF 1. Lig , in 1963 . In 1964, the former player Ayhan Erman , who had previously been a player at Sarıyer for twelve years, took over as coach and coached the club for 13 years. With this coach they played six seasons in the TFF 1st Lig and rose in 1969 to the then third highest division, today's TFF 2nd Lig . After just two seasons they returned to the TFF 1st Lig. Erman trained the club partially without pay and built the club through targeted talent promotion to a permanent member of the 1st Lig. With brief interruptions, Erman coached the club for a total of twenty years. Under him, the club rose in the 1981/82 season as champions of the TFF 1st Lig for the first time in the Süper Lig .

Erman left the club during the first Süper Lig season. In the meantime, wealthy investors bought into the club management and formed the club in the next few years after Fenerbahçe , Beşiktaş and Galatasaray to the fourth strongest Istanbul club in the Süper Lig. The club occupied several seasons table positions in the top third and employed stars like Cemil Turan , Rıdvan Dilmen , Erdoğan Arıca and Selçuk Yula . After the club played in the Süper Lig for twelve years, he was relegated to the TFF 1st Lig in the summer of 1994. After two years, the club returned to the Süper Lig. Here you missed the league in the first season and got down again in the TFF 1st Lig.

Systemic relegation to the TFF 2nd Lig

Since Turkish professional football was to undergo fundamental changes in the 2001/02 season, preparations for this change were made in the 2000/01 season. So far, professional football in Turkey has consisted of three leagues: the top division, the single-lane Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi , the second-rate five-lane and two-stage Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi and the third-rate, eight -lane Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi . For the 2001/02 season, professional football was expanded to four professional leagues. While the Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi remained unchanged, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi was now in the second highest division, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Aategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category A of Turkey ), and the third highest division , the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Bategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category B of Turkey ), divided. The subordinate Türkiye 3rd Futbol Ligi was henceforth the fourth highest division, the TFF 3rd Lig . Those teams, which only occupied a middle place in the table in the second division season 2000/01 , were assigned to the newly created third-highest Turkish division, the 2. Lig, for the coming season. Sarıyer, who had finished the league in 6th place in the table, had to relegate to the 2nd Lig due to the system.

Since 2005 the club has been playing in the TFF 2nd Lig .
