Mustafa Pektemek (born August 11, 1988 in Akyazı , Sakarya ) is a Turkish football player .
Club career
Pektemek started his professional career at Sakaryaspor . In the 2006/07 season he played in the first half of the season for Sakaryaspor and was awarded to Sarıyer SK in the second half of the season . He then returned to Sakaryaspor in the 2nd division. He became a regular at Sakaryaspor in his sophomore year. Gençlerbirliği Ankara signed him for the 2008/09 season. In the following three seasons Pektemek played 67 league games and scored 24 goals.
Beşiktaş Istanbul signed the striker for the 2011/12 season for a transfer fee of 4,000,000 euros. In his first season with the black and whites, Pektemek quickly established himself as a regular player and formed the storm of his team with Hugo Almeida . Pektemek finished the season with eight league goals behind Almeida as the second most successful goalscorer of his team.
For the 2016/17 season he was loaned to league rivals Istanbul Başakşehir . With this club he reached the Turkish runner-up and the Turkish cup final at the end of the season.
In the summer of 2019, he left Beşiktaş with an expiring contract and moved to city and league rivals Kasımpaşa Istanbul . After half a season, Pektemek moved to Alanyaspor with whom the experienced striker signed a one-and-a-half-year contract until summer 2021.
National team
Mustafa Pektemek made his debut for the Turkish U-21 selection on September 6, 2008 against the Czech Republic.
Trivia
- His older brother Sinan Pektemek is also a professional footballer and is active in the lower Turkish professional leagues .
- Pektemek was repeatedly thrown back during his career due to serious injuries and was therefore never able to establish himself in the squad for a long time, especially during his Beşiktaş time.
