Eray Birniçan (born July 20, 1988 in Bakırköy , Istanbul ) is a Turkish football goalkeeper who plays for Kasımpaşa Istanbul .

Career

Eray Birniçan started playing club football in the youth of his Istanbul home club Yıldırım Bosnaspor . In 2003 he received a professional contract from his club, but initially played mostly for the reserve team. In the course of the season he got the opportunity to train with the professional team in addition to his work in the second selection. He made six league appearances for the professional team in three seasons.

In the winter break of the 2005/06 season, he moved to the Süper Lig club Konyaspor . Although he was brought in for the professional team, he was rarely used here and mainly played in the second selection.

To enable him match practice, he was loaned to the second division team Samsunspor in the 2008/09 season. Here, too, he was rarely used for the professional team and rather played for the reserve.

For the 2009/10 season he returned to Konyaspor. In the meantime, Konyaspor rose from Süper Lig to Bank Asya 1. Lig . Despite the fact that Konyaspor was now playing a league lower, Birniçan did not make regular appearances. At the end of the season, Birniçan expressed the wish to leave the club.

For the 2010/11 season he moved to the Süper Lig team Gaziantepspor . While he made two league appearances in his first season, he was not used at all in the 2011/12 season.

On August 9, 2013, Birniçan signed a two-year contract with Çaykur Rizespor .

After a season at Rizespor, he returned to his old club Gaziantepspor in the summer of 2014. After just one season he was hired by league rivals Kasımpaşa Istanbulan .

National team

Eray Birniçan went through the Turkish U-17 , U-18, U-19 and U-21 junior national teams over the years . In 2005 he took part with the Turkish U-17s in the U-17 World Cup in 2005 and finished fourth with his team. The squad included players like Nuri Şahin and Deniz Yılmaz .
