Cenk Gönen (born February 21, 1988 in Izmir ) is a Turkish football goalkeeper . He is the nephew of Ali Artuner , a former Turkish national goalkeeper .
Career
society
Gönen started his career like his famous uncle Ali Artuner at Göztepe Izmir and was accepted into the professional squad here in 2004. After this club found itself in major financial problems and was on the verge of bankruptcy, Gönen moved to the first division club Denizlispor after only one season . At this club he did not play a competitive game and was loaned to Altay Izmir , one of Göztepe Izmir's great arch-rivals , for the second half of the 2007/08 season. For the second division Altay Gönen completed twelve league games. These performances paid off and on his return he played as a goalkeeper for Denizlispor. In the 2010/11 season Cenk Gönen moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul . During the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons, Gönen was number 1 in the Beşiktaş goal. He then lost his regular seat to Allan McGregor and Tolga Zengin . His position at Beşiktaş got worse when this club signed Şenol Güneş in the summer of 2015 . This coach, who had been a successful goalkeeper himself, declared Gönen to be the third goalkeeper right from the start. This fact ensures that Gönen openly played with the intention to change.
On August 28, 2015, Galatasaray Istanbul announced the commitment of Gönens. The Turkish record champions paid a transfer fee of 600,000 euros. Gönen signed a three-year contract. On July 19, 2017 Gönen moved to Spain to FC Málaga . With the Spaniards he stayed under contract for two seasons without having played a competitive game.
After he could not find a club in the 2019 summer transfer period, he was signed by the Turkish first division club Alanyaspor in the 2019/20 winter transfer period .
For the 2020/21 season he was signed by his former club Denizlispor .
National team
Gönen made his debut for Turkey on May 24, 2012 in a friendly against Georgia . In the same game he had to leave the game early in the second half due to an injury.
