José Carlos Coentrão Marafona (born May 8, 1987 in Vila do Conde ) is a Portuguese goalkeeper .

Career

society

In his youth, Carlos Marafona played for Rio Ave and Varzim . In the first two seasons as a professional at Varzim was only used five times, then he became the goalkeeper. In 2010 Marafona moved to Marítimo Funchal and was loaned to Desportivo Aves for two seasons in 2011 . From 2013 to 2015 he played for the Moreirense Futebol Clube until he moved to Paços Ferreira for the 2015/16 season.

From January 2016 Carlos Marafona was under contract with Sporting Braga . In the summer of 2019 he moved to Turkey for the first division club Alanyaspor .

National team

Marafona was appointed to the national team for the first time on March 31, 2015 for the friendly against Cape Verde , but was not used. He received his second nomination for the games against Gibraltar and Switzerland in September 2016 after Anthony Lopes was sidelined due to injury. Since September 2016 he has been regularly nominated as the third goalkeeper for the national team. On March 28, 2017, he finally made his debut as part of a 2-3 friendly defeat against Sweden .
