Anthony Lopes (born October 1, 1990 in Givors , France ) is a French - Portuguese football goalkeeper .

Career

Olympique Lyon

Lopes comes from the youth academy of Olympique Lyon . For the 2011/12 season he was promoted to the professional team. He made his first competitive game in the 2011/12 French Cup semi-finals . His team left with a 4-0 away win. The team later won the trophy. Lopes won the French Supercup as a substitute goalkeeper. The title defense was lost against the OGC Nice with 1: 3; Lopes was in goal for the full game. On December 6, 2012, he played his first international game for Lyon in the last game of the group stage of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League against Hapoel Ironi Kirjat Schmona when the group victory was already certain. It remained his only international game in the season in which Lyon lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 32 .

Third in Ligue 1 2012/13 , Lyon faced Grasshopper Club Zurich in the third qualifying round of the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League the following season, and Lopes scored 1-0 in both of them. In the playoffs against Real Sociedad San Sebastián, he conceded two goals, while his teammates failed to score. Lyon rose to the group stage of the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League . Here he was in the first three group games in goal and twice without conceding, then missed two games due to a back injury, in which he was replaced by Mathieu Gorgelin and Rémy Vercoutre , the previous number 1 at Lyon. In the last group game, in which Lyon secured the group victory with a 2-1 victory over Vitória Guimarães , Lopes was back in goal. He then shared the two sixteenth-finals with Vercoutre and both remained clean. In the last sixteen and quarter-finals, he was then in all games in the gate, where he did not go without conceding a goal and after two defeats against Juventus Turin with Lyon was eliminated. Also in the championship he was now a regular goalkeeper and was used in 32 of 38 league games and Vercoutre moved to Caen for the next season . In the end, however, Lyon had to be content with fifth place.

Fifth place was enough for Lyon to qualify for the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League . Here Lopes played in four games, but was only able to keep his goal clean in the last game in Romania in a 1-0 against Astra Giurgiu , but since Lyon had lost the home game with 1: 2, Lyon were eliminated due to the away goals rule . Things went better in Ligue 1 2014/15 , in which he was in goal in all 38 games and not conceding a goal 16 times. In the end, the runner-up and participation in the UEFA Champions League jumped out. Here he was in goal in all six group games, but was only able to keep his goal clean in the last game against FC Valencia in the only win. The Lyoners were eliminated as the last group. National team

Lopes, whose mother is French and whose father is Portuguese, made an early decision to play for Portugal and took part in the second qualifying round for the 2007 U-17 European Football Championship with the U-17 team in March 2007 . Although he did not concede a goal in two games and did not lose a game, Iceland had scored more goals against the other opponents, so the Portuguese were eliminated. He also met Icelandic Kolbeinn Sigþórsson , who, unlike him, was to play in the Icelanders' game at the 2016 European Championship against Portugal, nine years later. In November he was in goal for the U-19s of Portugal, who took part in the first qualifying round in his home country for the U-19 European Football Championship in 2008 . On September 1, 2011, he successfully guarded the goal of the U-21s in the first qualifying game for the U-21 European Championship 2013 against Moldova . In the next four games, however, Mika Domingues was in goal. Lopes was then put back in for the last three games in June and September 2012, in which he did not concede a goal twice. With a 2-2 draw against Albania , in which he was not in goal, the Portuguese had lost the qualification for the playoffs, which they missed as fifth-best group runner-up.

In September 2013 he was invited to a game of the senior national team for the first time, but he was only on the bench in the 1: 3 in the friendly against Brazil on September 11, 2013 . As a result, he sat on the bench for other friendship and World Cup qualifiers, but was not nominated for the World Cup. He was also nominated as a substitute goalkeeper in six games in qualifying for the Euro 2016 , which began after the World Cup .

On March 31, 2015, he made his debut in a friendly against the Cape Verde Islands (0-2) in the senior national team , where he was in goal for 90 minutes.
