The Ligue 1 2015/16 was the 78th season in the highest French football league of gentlemen.

Paris Saint-Germain started the season as defending champion , the reigning cup winners were also the Parisians. The SCO Angers , Gazélec FC Ajaccio and ES Troyes AC secured promotion to the top division and replaced the three relegated FC Évian Thonon Gaillard , FC Metz and RC Lens .

The championship started on August 7, 2015 and ended on May 14, 2016. After just 30 of 38 match days, Paris Saint-Germain was the champions.

A total of 20 teams took part in the championship, 17 of which played in Ligue 1 last season.
