The Roazhon Park ( German Rennes-Park ) is a football stadium in Rennes , France , the largest city in Brittany . The Stade Rennes football club plays its home games here.
history
The stadium was inaugurated on September 15, 1912 under the name Stade de la Route de Lorient . An expansion took place in 1999 and was completed five years later. Since then the capacity has been 29,778 seats. To mark the inauguration of the new stadium, the friendly match between France and Bosnia-Herzegovina (score: 1-1) took place there on September 16, 2004 . On June 2, 2007, the Celtic Night ( Nuit celtique ), which is otherwise celebrated in the Stade Louis-Fonteneau in Nantes , took place there for the first time .
There was a record attendance on August 20, 2005 with 29,490 guests at a game between Stade Rennes and Olympique Marseille .
The stadium was renamed for the 2015/16 season . To this end, the club had given its supporters three options to choose from, which they could vote on for ten days: Roazhon Park , Roazhon Celtic Park or Stade des Hermines . Roazhon is the Breton name of Rennes; the Hermines ( ermine symbols ) are the most important national identification symbols there, which can also be found, for example, in the flag of Brittany .
On June 12, 2015, the result was announced that 70 percent had chosen the name Roazhon Park . The stadium was decorated in the club colors (e.g. seats and signs) of Stade Rennes and inaugurated with a friendly match against FC Turin on August 1, 2015 .
