Virslīga 2015

The Virslīga 2016 was the 25th season of the highest Latvian football league since it was founded in 1992. It was played by the Latvian Football Association . The season started on March 11th and ended on November 5th, 2016.

The FK Spartaks Jūrmala became Latvian champions for the first time.

mode

This season consisted of eight teams, new in the league was Riga FC , founded in 2015 , who won the 1st league the previous season under the name FC Caramba / Dinamo Riga and FK Rīgas Futbola skola came third, as Skonto Riga was not licensed got.

The championship was played in a regular season in two first and two second round matches. Each team met four times against every other team. The bottom of the table was relegated to the second class 1st līga .
