Edgars Gauračs (born March 10, 1988 in Rēzekne ) is a Latvian football player who plays for FK Spartaks Jūrmala .

Career

Edgars Gauračs began his career in his hometown Rēzekne , in the youth of SK Blāzma . In the 2006 season Gauračs was used by the club from Latgale for the first time in the Virslīga . In September of the same year Gauračs signed a contract with Ascoli Calcio , previously from the series B in the Serie A had risen. After three years in Italy, where he did not play a competitive game at Ascoli, Gauračs moved back to Latvia. There he signed a contract with FK Ventspils . Through good performances in the Europa League , in which he scored a goal in the game against Hertha BSC, for example , other teams, including Rapid Bucharest , became aware of him, the Romanian capital club finally signed him on loan until the end of the second half of the 2009/10 season . Gauračs made his debut for Rapid against Unirea Urziceni in February 2010. By the end of the loan, five more missions followed, where he remained without a goal and came back to Ventspils . In his Latvian homeland, he terminated the current contract and moved to Sheriff Tiraspol . After the first half series Gauračs moved to Russia to Yenisei Krasnoyarsk , after he could show ten goals in twelve games in the Moldovan Divizia Națională . In February 2011 Gauračs signed a contract with the Russian second division club for a year. As a regular in Krasnoyarsk , Gauračs moved to Torpedo Moscow in June 2012 .

National team

Edgars Gauračs played for the Latvian national football team since his time in Russia . He made his debut on June 4, 2011 in the international match against Israel , in the qualifying game for the European Championship 2012 he came on in the 60th minute of play for Andrejs Perepļotkins . With the Latvian selection, the two-footed Gauračs won the Baltic Cup in 2012, scoring three goals in two games and becoming the top scorer. In the first game against Lithuania which ended 5-0, Gauračs was able to mark hits two and three before he was exchanged for Vladimir's Kamešs . In the final against Finland he scored 1-1 after 90 minutes of play after the Finns took the lead through Toni Kolehmainen . In the subsequent penalty shootout, Gauračs was unable to participate as the Latvian national coach Aleksandrs Starkovs had already substituted him for Vladislavs Kozlovs before the end of the game .
