The Baltic Cup 2014 for national soccer teams took place in Latvia between May 29 and 31, 2014 . It was the 45th edition of the Baltic States' tournament since it was first held in 1928 . This makes it the oldest international football tournament for national teams in Europe that is still being held.
In addition to the national teams from the three Baltic states of Estonia , Latvia and Lithuania , the Finnish national team also took part in the tournament for the second time since 2012 . The tournament was played in two semi-finals, a game for third place and a final. The defending champion was the Latvian national team, which was the record winner of this competition with 21 wins before the tournament.
The games were played in Liepāja ( Daugava Stadium ) and in Ventspils ( Olimpiskais Centrs Ventspils ). Host Latvia played its semi-finals in Liepāja against the Estonian selection, Finland played against Lithuania in Ventspils. Host Latvia moved into the final by beating Estonia on penalties . The Lithuanian national team won their semi-final match against Finland with a goal from Arvydas Novikovas 1-0 in regular time. Finland secured third place by beating Estonia. Latvia won the final against Lithuania with a goal from defender Nauris Bulvītis , successfully defending the title from 2012 . It was Latvia's 22nd title win at this competition.
