Career
In the club
Niki Mänenpää began his career in his hometown at FC Kasiysi, which was considered the training club of FC Espoo . Later he was to be briefly active in the youth of the Finnish record champions HJK Helsinki . For the capital city club he sat in the first match days of the Veikkausliiga 2003 partially as a substitute goalkeeper on the reserve bench. From summer 2003 he was then in France with the second representation of the RC Lens under contract, for which he stood in a total of 17 games between the posts until 2006. After the contract expired, Mänenpää moved to the Dutch second division club FC Den Bosch , with whom he signed a contract until the end of the 2008/09 season. After he had fought for a regular place at the club from the Eerste Divisie in the first season , he remained number one in the following season. In the last season before the contract expired in Den Bosch , however, he was only used seven times. In the previous two seasons he had made 27 and 33 league games. From 2009 he was part of Willem II Tilburg in the Eredivisie , for which he played 18 times in two first division seasons. In the 2011/12 season Mänenpää was the third goalkeeper behind Esteban Alvarado and Erik Heijblok in the AZ Alkmaar squad for which he was not used. In May 2012 Mäenpää signed for three years with VVV-Venlo , for which he was the regular goalkeeper. In July 2015 he moved to the English second division club Brighton & Hove Albion on a free transfer .
