Adalbert Hoesle (* 1959 ) is a German artist. He describes himself as a retrogradist and had this term patented.

Life

Hoesle received training as a specialist nurse for anesthesia and intensive care medicine, after which he studied painting in Munich and Nürtingen. In 1998 he founded the working group Retrograde strategies. Since 2004 he has been working with the Institute for Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology at the University of Tübingen. In 2004 he initiated the project " Subductive Measures - ZBO SdM / 052004" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict . From 2005 to 2009 he was co-initiator of the project "> Artists for Tichy - Tichy for Artists <" and curator of the Tichy Ocean Foundation, which makes the work of the Czech artist and photographer Miroslav Tichý (* 1926) accessible. In 2012 he founded the Art research Lab (ARL).

He is the inventor of the art project "Brain Painting", this process creates images directly from EEG recordings and was adapted by Hoesle from the BCI process (Brain Computer Interface, EEG brain-computer interfaces). BCI technology is developed to help physically disabled people. The interface was programmed at the University of Würzburg by Andrea Kübler at the Department of Psychology I. With this technique, people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) can also participate in artistic life, such as Angela Jansen 2012 in the Rostock art gallery as part of the “Rostock Synapse - pingo, ergo sum “.
