societies
In his youth Wright played in Langwarrin in the south of his hometown Melbourne , with twelve years in Mornington and after a year he went to Dandenong . Finally he was accepted into the junior development program of the state Victoria in 2006 and from 2007 played for the junior team of the development institute. After he got no offer from the national funding institute or a local first division club, he tried his luck in Great Britain. At the age of 16 he played for Celtic Glasgow , Crewe Alexandra and the Blackburn Rovers and finally got a training contract with the second division club Preston North End .
After Wright's move to Europe, he was on the substitution bench once in the first year of the professional team. At the beginning of the next season he was allowed to represent the team in the League Cup and was then more often in the second division squad. On March 6, 2011, he made his debut in the Football League Championship as a substitute in the game at Norwich City . On his second substitution for an injured central defender, however, the young player had to pay hardship. After he came into the game in the 42nd minute, two more goals were conceded and two more after the break. At the end of the season, the team had to relegate to Football League One . In the 2011/12 season he was not considered for a long time and only made his first appearance on matchday 35. Three game days later, however, he was on the starting line-up as a left-back and played through all league games from then until the end of the season. He scored his first professional goal on matchday 41 with a header in the 90th minute to equalize 1: 1 against the Milton Keynes Dons .
In his fourth year in Preston, Wright was already a regular. He was used 38 times this year and established himself in the central defense of the "Lilywhites" and was chosen by the club as the youngster of the season. In this position he was set in the 2013/14 season and one of the key players in the team. Preston reached the play-off games, but again missed promotion. The Australian is under contract in Preston until 2015. After promotion to the second-rate Football League Championship in the 2014/15 season , his contract was extended.
He moved to Bristol City in January 2017 .
National team
Bailey Wright played for his state Victoria selection as a youth and was captain of the U-14 and U-15 teams. Then he was accepted into the national U-16 team and represented Australia at the Junior Asian Cup in 2008. He then also played in the U-17 selection, but missed with the team the qualification for the 2009 Junior World Cup, he was in the Australian U-17 selection appointed. However, participation in the tournament was missed.
During his time in England, the young defender was not considered for a long time. It was only in the immediate run-up to the 2014 World Cup that he was invited as one of 30 players in the preparation. Then he got a place in the 23-man selection of the Australian team for the tournament in Brazil, without having previously played an international match.
