Career

Walsall FC

Jamie Paterson made his debut on August 31, 2010 in a 2-1 home defeat of his club Walsall FC in the game of the Football League Trophy against Chesterfield FC . The 18-year-old winger played fourteen league games for the third division team in the Football League One 2010/11 . He scored his first goal on November 5, 2011, when he equalized in the 78th minute at Huddersfield Town . In the 2011/12 season Paterson (34 league games / 3 goals) was consistently used and secured relegation with his team. The 2012/13 season led to a significant increase in personal performance. With twelve league goals, he became the second best goalscorer of his team after Will Grigg (nineteen goals). Walsall finished the season on a good ninth place in the table.

Nottingham Forest

On July 2, 2013, the 21-year-old moved to the second division Nottingham Forest and signed for two years. In September 2015, Paterson was awarded to Huddersfield Town .

Bristol City

At the end of August 2016, Paterson signed a three-year contract with the second division Bristol City . There he was a regular player from the 2017/18 season, extended the contract in July 2018 until the summer of 2021 and was later loaned out to league rivals Derby County for the entire 2019/20 season.
