Andreas Weimann (born August 5, 1991 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player . He is under contract with Bristol City .

Career

Club career

At the age of seven, Andreas Weimann began to play football in a club in the youth department of FC Stadlau . In 2005 he switched to the SK Rapid Wien youth team , where he clearly demonstrated his great talent. As a 16-year-old, this earned him four calls-up for the Austrian U-17 national team. As a result, Aston Villa scouts became aware of the center forward, whereupon he received a contract offer for the academy in 2007. "Rapid Wien failed to offer the very talented striker a contract," commented former Rapid Wien player and then U-18 ÖFB team boss Peter Persidis , who was convinced that the player had taken "the right step" . Although a year younger than his peers, Weimann immediately secured a regular place in the U-18 team of the Aston Villa Academy and was able to look forward to the English U-18 championship title after the 2007/08 season. Due to his good performance, Weimann moved up to the reserve team of Aston Villa in the 2008/09 season, where he made a significant contribution with his goals that in the end an English championship title could be celebrated again.

The next step in his career followed these successes in summer 2009. Andreas Weimann joined the first team at the age of 18. Weimann made his debut in the preparatory game on August 2, 2009 at Turin's Stadio delle Alpi against Juventus Turin (0-0) and was allowed to play for 74 minutes before he was replaced by Barry Bannan . At the start of the 2010/11 season , Weimann made his Premier League debut against West Ham United as a substitute .

After Weimann had already completed four appearances in the Austrian U-17 national team and three appearances in the U-19 national team , he was appointed to the Austrian U-21 national team at the age of 18 by the new team boss Andreas Herzog . In his first game in qualifying for the U-21 European Championship against Scotland, Weimann came on the field for Marc Sand in the 56th minute and scored the decisive goal for Austria's 1-0 victory just one minute later with his first ball contact.

During the winter break of the 2010/11 season, Weimann was loaned to Watford FC . After the U20 World Cup in Colombia, where he played in all three group games of the Austrians, he returned to Aston Villa in August 2011. There he played a game in the League Cup on August 23, 2011 and provided a lot of momentum in the 2-0 win against Hereford United .

In the same week, Aston Villa made him a new contract offer until 2014, which he accepted. In order to gain more match practice, he was awarded again to the championship club Watford FC until January 2012.

However, just a month later, it was revealed that the loan deal had ended prematurely due to an injury. Weimann has been back in the Aston Villa squad since the end of September. On March 10, 2012, Weimann scored his first goal in the Premier League after substitution , which was decisive for the 1-0 home win of his club Aston Villa against Fulham FC . On November 10, 2012 Weimann scored in the 3-2 defeat Aston Villas against Manchester United for the first time two goals in a Premier League game.

After the 2014/15 season , Weimann moved to the second division Derby County for a fee of 3.8 million euros .

National team

On October 2nd, 2012 Andreas Weimann was called up by team boss Marcel Koller for the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan for the first time in the Austrian national team and made his debut on October 12th, 2012 in the away match in Astana .
