Esteban Alvarado Brown , called Esteban , (born October 28, 1989 in Siquirres ) is a football goalkeeper from Costa Rica .
Club career
In his youth, Esteban played in the youth teams of the Costa Rican record champions CD Saprissa . In January 2009 he made the leap into the professional squad. He made his debut in the 2009/10 season on matchday 15 of the Primera División in a 3-1 home win against AD Municipal Liberia .
Since the 2010/11 season he has been playing for the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar , where he was the regular goalkeeper in the 2011/12 season.
On December 21, 2011 he came into the focus of the world public when he was assaulted in the 36th minute of the game in the round of 16 of the Dutch Cup competition at Ajax Amsterdam by a drunken rioter from the ranks of Ajax supporters who ran onto the pitch has been. The 19-year-old attacker jumped with a straight leg and a backward movement with his arm towards Brown and hit Brown in the leg. However, Brown managed to repel the attack altogether, causing the attacker to fall to the ground. The eviction was lifted by the Dutch association the day after the incident, as Esteban was attacked from behind and could not see the attacker.
For the 2015/16 season, Esteban moved to the Turkish first division club Trabzonspor . Here he only signed a two-year contract and was used as a replacement for Onur Kıvrak during this time . In the summer of 2017, he extended his contract for a further two years. At the end of December 2018, after mutual agreement with the club's management, he prematurely terminated his contract and left the Black Sea Club after three and a half years .
National team career
Esteban was nominated for the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada at the age of seventeen . There he did not play a single game as a substitute goalkeeper. Two years later he went to Egypt as a goalkeeper for the U-20 World Cup in 2009 . As the fourth-best third-placed team, the team just made it to the finals. There, however, she reached the semi-finals by winning against hosts Egypt and the United Arab Emirates . There they failed just 1-0 to Brazil . The team also lost the game for third place with 1: 3 on penalties against Hungary . Esteban was in the team's goal in all seven games and twice without conceding.
On March 27, 2010 he made his debut in the senior team in a friendly against China . On September 13, 2012 he resigned from the national team after a dispute with Costa Rica's then national coach Jorge Luis Pinto .
