Teemu Pukki (born March 29, 1990 in Kotka ) is a Finnish football player who is under contract with Norwich City .

Career

FC KooTeePee

Pukki began his career at FC KooTeePee , for which he made his league debut on April 21, 2006 against HJK Helsinki . After he was only used five times in the 2006 season, he ran 24 times in 2007, scoring three goals this season.

Sevilla FC

In January 2008 he moved to the Spanish club Sevilla FC , where he signed a three-and-a-half year contract. After he had won the Copa del Rey of the junior teams there, he was used almost exclusively at Sevilla Atlético , the second team. He made his debut there on the sixth match day of the Segunda División 2008/09 in the game against Real Sociedad , in which he marked the only goal of the game.

On December 7, 2008, Pukki was appointed for the league game against Real Madrid for the first time in the squad of the A-team, but not used. His debut in the Primera División followed on January 25, 2009 against Racing Santander , when he came on in the 62nd minute for Ivica Dragutinović .

HJK Helsinki

Since he did not feel that he was in good hands in Seville, Pukki moved to HJK Helsinki in August 2010 ; there he signed a three and a half year contract. In his second league game on September 12, 2010, he met for the first time in a 1-1 draw against FF Jaro . At the end of the year there were seven games, two goals and a 2010 Veikkausliiga win . In 2011, Pukki was then used regularly and scored his first hat trick on June 22 in a 6-0 win over Turku PS .

In July 2011 Pukki was used for the first time in the Champions League qualification against Bangor City . In the 3-0 first leg success he played 83 minutes; in the second leg he scored the sixth and eighth goals in a 10-0 victory. In the third qualifying round, however, Helsinki was eliminated 3-1 on a return leg against Dinamo Zagreb . Then the club came into the playoffs for the UEFA Europa League , in which they met FC Schalke 04 . In the first leg on August 18, Pukki scored both goals in a surprising 2-0 home win. Also in the second leg in the Gelsenkirchen Veltins Arena a week later Pukki scored a goal, but Helsinki lost 6-1 and was eliminated.

FC Schalke 04

After Pukki was eliminated from the Europa League with Helsinki, he moved to FC Schalke 04 on August 31, 2011, with whom he signed a contract until June 30, 2014. Pukki made his Bundesliga debut on September 18, 2011 in the 2-0 defeat by Bayern Munich when he came on for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the 66th minute . He scored his first two Bundesliga goals on November 6, 2011 (12th matchday) in a 2-2 draw in the away game at Hannover 96 . Pukki quickly rose to the Schalke crowd's favorite, but mostly only remained a substitute.

Celtic Glasgow

At the end of August 2013, Pukki moved to Scotland to join Celtic Glasgow . In his first game for Celtic, Pukki scored in the away league game against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle Stadium after his substitution for Kris Commons in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1, four minutes before the end of the game. Three days later, he made his European debut for his club on the first day of the Champions League group stage 2013/14 against AC Milan in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium ; he was substituted on. When he first played at home in Celtic Park , Pukki was in the starting eleven for the first time in the game against FC St. Johnstone , in which he scored his second goal in the second game in the league.

Brøndby IF

In September 2014, Pukki was awarded to Brøndby IF in Denmark. After the loan ended, Pukki was signed by the Danish club. He played for the club for four years. With Brøndby he was runner- up in 2017 and 2018 .

Norwich City

For the 2018/19 season , the English second division Norwich City signed him on a free transfer. With the Canaries he celebrated the second division championship and rose to the Premier League . Pukki was the league's top scorer with 29 goals this season. Teemu Pukki was voted Premier League Player of the Month in August 2019 for the 2019/20 season .

National team

Pukki played in all age groups of the Finnish association and completed a total of 52 international matches between the U-15 and the U-20 , in which he scored 23 goals. He was also used in the U-21 national team (11/2) and the B national team of Finland (1/0). On February 4, 2009 he came in the 5-1 defeat of the Finns under coach Stuart Baxter in the game against Japan to his A international debut when he came in the 67th minute for Jari Litmanen in the game.
