Kristian Arran "Kris" Commons (born August 30, 1983 in Mansfield , England ) is a Scottish football player .

Career

Stoke City

Kris Commons moved from his hometown club Notts County to Stoke City when he was young . There he signed his first professional contract in 2000 at the age of 17. He made his debut a year later in the League Cup against Blackpool FC . Commons suffered his first serious injury at the beginning of his playing career and was out for a year with a cruciate ligament tear. Under the new coach Tony Pulis , however, he quickly found his previous form and was consistently used in the starting lineup. Stoke City had achieved promotion to the second-rate First Division in the 2001/02 season and spent the next two years there before Commons decided in 2004 to move to Nottingham Forest .

Nottingham Forest

His new team was also active in the English second division at the time. At the beginning of the 2004/05 season, this division was renamed Football League Championship through a restructuring . Commons (30 games / 6 goals) got off to a very bad start at his new club. Coach Joe Kinnear resigned in the first half of the season due to continued failure. His successor was Gary Megson , but even under him Forest did not find back on the road to success and rose to the third division at the end of the season. His teammates Michael Dawson and Andy Reid switched to the first division club Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the year . After seventh place in 2005/06, Nottingham reached 2006/07 under the new coach Colin Calderwood to move into the first play-off round, but failed there at Yeovil Town . Kris Commons scored ten goals in 34 league games. The following year provided another increase in performance and culminated in promotion to the second division by a second place in the table behind Swansea City . Commons contributed nine more goals to promotion in 39 games and was voted into the team of the year in the third division. He subsequently decided, however, for a free transfer to Derby County .

Derby County

His new club was relegated from the Premier League in the 2007/08 season and therefore spent the new season like Nottingham Forest in the second division. His new team clearly missed the hoped-for resurgence, but made it into the semi-finals of the English League Cup. However, after a 1-0 home win by a Commons goal, Derby failed after a 2-4 defeat in the second leg at Manchester United . In addition, the club reached the 5th round of the FA Cup . In the fourth round there was a duel with the East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Derby won the replay at City Ground with an excellent goal from Kris Commons in the 74th minute with 3-2. This was also Derby's first win in Nottingham in over 30 years. Kris Commons scored five goals in 34 league games. In the 2009/10 season Commons (20 games / 3 goals) was injured in a game against Swansea City in February and was only used again shortly before the end of the season.

Celtic Glasgow

On January 27, 2011, Commons moved to Celtic Glasgow for a rumored £ 500,000 , where he signed a contract until 2014. He had previously turned down a move to arch rivals Glasgow Rangers . Just two days later, Commons made his debut in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup against FC Aberdeen for his new employer, which he brought in the front after just six minutes with a remarkable lifter from about 20 meters. Commons thus laid the foundation for the 4-1 victory of his colors. Commons made his debut in the Scottish Premier League (SPL) on February 1, 2011, against Aberdeen again . In the superior 3-0 victory of Celtic, however, his first league goal was denied, Commons failed in a promising position at the post.

In December 2016, Commons was awarded to Hibernian Edinburgh for two months . He made his debut the day after his commitment to Greenock Morton when he came on for Liam Fontaine .

Scottish national team

Born in England, Kris Commons was given the opportunity to play for the Scottish national football team because of his Scottish grandparents . On August 12, 2008, he made his debut in a friendly against the Northern Irish national football team . On September 6, 2008, he was also used in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Opponent in this game was the Macedonian national football team .
