Leigh Griffiths (born August 20, 1990 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player .
Career
Griffiths first played in the youth team of Leith Athletic before moving to the youth division of his favorite club, Hibernian Edinburgh . There his talent was recognized and promoted early on. However, after an argument with a teammate, he had to leave the club. Since then he has also been called "Sparky" (from Engl. To spark = to ignite, to kindle - because of his temperament). He then joined Hutchison Vale .
Finally, the First Division club FC Livingston signed him . At Livi , he made his first team debut at the age of 16 in the 3-1 defeat by Airdrie United on December 30, 2006, where he was substituted on shortly before the end of the game. After he came regularly to the course in the following 2007/08 season, he was able to secure a regular place in the 2008/09 season and brought it to 21 goals and nine assists and was voted Player of the Year in the First Division.
At the beginning of the 2009/10 season he moved to league rivals FC Dundee for £ 125,000 after financial problems at his club . There he spent about 1½ years before he signed a contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England for a term of 2½ years after 21 goals in 47 championship games shortly before the end of the winter transfer period on January 26, 2011 . Dundee FC also struggled with money problems during this period and was therefore forced to sell Griffiths. In August 2011 he was loaned back to Scotland to Hibernian Edinburgh , the club he had been a fan of since childhood.
National team
Griffiths was first nominated for Scotland's U-19 selection in 2008. In 2009 he was appointed as the youngest player to date in the B national team. There he got a template and a goal on his debut against the Northern Irish national B team.
