Career

society

Craig Gordon began his career in the youth division of Heart of Midlothian, Scotland . He went through all youth teams until he signed a professional contract in October 1999. He made his debut at the age of 19 in October 2002 in a league game against FC Livingston . From then on it didn't take long and he had pushed the previous goalkeeper Tepi Moilanen out of the Hearts' box and later even became team captain. In total, Gordon, who is a big fan of Hearts himself , played 139 league games for the Edinburgh club . In the 2001/02 season, Gordon was loaned to the then fourth division club FC Cowdenbeath between October and December . In August 2007 he moved to the English Premier League club AFC Sunderland for £ 9 million . This made him the most expensive British goalkeeper to date. In July 2014, Gordon signed a two-year contract with Celtic Glasgow . At the end of the season he won the Scottish Championship and the League Cup with Celtic . Before the start of the new 2015/16 season , Gordon prematurely extended his contract to 2018.

At the end of January 2017, media reported unanimously that Craig Gordon had received an offer from Premier League top club Chelsea . There he is to inherit the willing Asmir Begović and the substitute goalkeeper of Thibaut Courtois . On January 29, 2017, Brendan Rodgers confirmed such an offer from Chelsea, but stressed that he would reject the contract offer.
