Craig Ross Wighton (born July 27, 1997 in Dundee ) is a Scottish football player .

Career

society

In his childhood and youth, Craig Wighton played for Dundee FC . On his sixteenth birthday he signed his first professional contract. Shortly afterwards, he made the jump to the first team. He made his debut in October 2013 against Cowdenbeath FC after being substituted on for Craig Beattie in the 81st minute . In his second competitive game against FC Dumbarton in the same month, he was the youngest player in the club's history to score at the age of 16, 3 months and 13 days. At the end of the season , Wighton managed to move up to the first division with the team. The young striker was involved with two goals in thirteen league games. In the following two seasons, Wighton was loaned to Brechin City and the Raith Rovers . After his return to Dundee, the talent was regularly used in the professional squad under Paul Hartley . In June 2016, the 18-year-old signed a new three-year contract. In August 2018, Wighton was signed by Heart of Midlothian .

National team

Craig Wighton has played for Scotland since the U-15 . The greatest success with the U-17 was reaching the semi-finals at the 2014 European Championship .
