John Souttar (born September 25, 1996 in Aberdeen ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Heart of Midlothian . His younger brother Harry Souttar is also a professional footballer.

Career

John Souttar was born in Aberdeen in September 1996. He began his football career at the age of six with Brechin City from the town of Brechin, about 30 km northeast of Dundee . In 2006 he moved from this to the youth of Dundee United . For the club Souttar first played in the junior team of the U-15, followed by the U-17 and U-19 in the following years. As part of the club's U-20s, he made his professional debut in the 2012/13 season at the age of 16 years and 99 days as the youngest ever player in the history of the club, which was founded in 1905. By the end of the season, Souttar played in seven other games, as well as one game in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup against eventual winners Celtic Glasgow . In November 2013, the now 17-year-old Souttar extended his long-term contract with United. In the next season he was able to achieve the first professional goal in the league game against FC Aberdeen . With the team Souttar reached the cup final 2013/14 , which was lost to FC St. Johnstone . Although the defensive player was not used in the final, he played a major role in making four appearances.

National team

John Souttar made his Scottish U-17 debut against Belgium at the Forthbank Stadium in Stirling in August 2012 . By the end of the year he had played in five other international matches in this age group. He has played for them since his debut for Scotland's U-19s in 2013 against England . On September 5, 2015, Souttar made his U-21 debut against Northern Ireland .

On September 7, 2018, Souttar made his senior national team debut against Belgium .
