Connor Smith (born February 1, 2002 in Cowdenbeath ) is a Scottish football player who is under contract with Heart of Midlothian . His brother Callum Smith , who is three years older, is also a professional soccer player and plays for Hamilton Academical .

Career

Connor Smith, born in Cowdenbeath about 30 km northwest of Edinburgh , played in the youth of Heart of Midlothian until 2018 . On the last day of the 2017/18 season in the Scottish Premiership , he made his debut for the "Hearts" in the professional team against FC Kilmarnock in Rugby Park . In the 0-1 away defeat, the 16-year-old Smith came on for Harry Cochrane . He was one of four debutants alongside Chris Hamilton , Cammy Logan and Leeroy Makovora . In the 2018/19 season he made three more appearances, including in the Edinburgh Derby against Hibernian in April 2019.

In the 2019/20 season he was loaned to Cowdenbeath FC in the fourth division in his hometown . He scored two goals in 15 games.

National team

Connor Smith played eight times for the Scottish U16 team between 2017 and 2018 . He got two goals. As of 2018, Smith played in the U17, which he led on the field as team captain in 6 of 10 international matches . In September 2019 he made his debut in the U18 .
