Premiership 2016/17

The Scottish Premiership 2017/18 was the fifth edition of the highest Scottish football division for men. The league was officially played as the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership . It was also the 121st edition of the top soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. The season began on August 5, 2017 with the opening game between Celtic Glasgow and Heart of Midlothian and ended with the 38th matchday on May 13, 2018. There was a winter break between January 1 and 19.

After the regular season, which is referred to as the 1st round and in which all teams competed three times against each other, the final 2nd round began, which was divided into two groups of the championship and relegation play-offs . The eleventh placed in the Premiership then competed in relegation games , in which the second, third and fourth placed of the championship took part. The bottom of the table was relegated directly.

As a climber from last year's championship , Hibernian Edinburgh is taking part in the Premiership . The defending champion is Celtic Glasgow .

The championship won for the 49th time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow. It was also the seventh title in a row. With a 5-0 home win at Old Firm against the Glasgow Rangers , the Bhoys were able to win the championship on matchday 35 and thus qualified as champions for the following 2018/19 Champions League season . The FC Aberdeen to Glasgow Rangers and Hibernian qualified for the Europa League . Celtic won the Scottish Cup and League Cup in the same season, making them the second national triple in a row and the fifth overall.
