Dorus de Vries (born December 29, 1980 in Beverwijk ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper .

Player career

The goalkeeper began his playing career with Stormvogels Telstar in the Netherlands. In 2003 Dorus de Vries moved to ADO Den Haag .

There he developed into a goalkeeper and played 51 games in the Eredivisie .

For the 2006/2007 season de Vries went to Scotland to Dunfermline Athletic . Although he played 27 games and at least reached the cup final, he tried his luck in the next season at Swansea City .

There he was instrumental in the rise of Swansea from the third English division to the Premier League . In total, he stood in 178 league games between the posts and helped the team from Wales through strong and consistent performance to rise to the top division of England. In the summer of 2011, he surprisingly decided to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers . However, De Vries did not get beyond the role of the substitute goalkeeper, so he moved to Nottingham Forest for the 2013-14 season. After three seasons in Nottingham, he moved to Scotland for Celtic Glasgow in August 2016 .
