In 2018/19, the Scottish Premiership was the sixth event as the highest Scottish men's football division under this name. The league was officially played as the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership . It was also the 122nd edition of the top soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. The season began on August 4, 2018 and ended after two rounds with the 38th matchday on May 19, 2019. There was a winter break between December 31, 2018 and January 18, 2019.
After the regular season, which was referred to as the 1st round and in which all teams compete against each other three times, the final 2nd round began, which was divided into two groups of the championship and relegation play-offs . The eleventh place in the Premiership then competed in relegation games , in which the second, third and fourth placed of the Scottish Championship participated. The bottom of the table was relegated directly.
As promoters from last year's championship , FC St. Mirren and FC Livingston took part in the Premiership . The defending champion was Celtic Glasgow .
The championship won for the 50th time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow. It was also the eighth title in a row. With a 3-0 away win on May 4, 2019 against FC Aberdeen , the Bhoys were able to win the championship on matchday 35 and thus qualified as champions for the following 2019/20 Champions League season . The Glasgow Rangers , the FC Kilmarnock and Aberdeen FC qualified for the Europa League . Celtic won the Scottish Cup and League Cup that same season, making them their third national triple in a row and their sixth overall.
The FC Dundee rose after five seasons in the first class again from the 2nd division. FC St. Mirren took part in the relegation, but were able to secure relegation after two draws against Dundee United with a win on penalties.
