The Scottish Championship was played for the sixth time in 2018/19 as the second highest division of men's football in Scotland . It was also the 113th edition of a second division football within the Scottish Football League . The league was officially played as the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship . The league followed the first-class Premiership and was above League One and Two as one of the four professional leagues within the Scottish Football League. The season was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. The season started on August 4, 2018 and ended on May 4, 2019.
In the 2018/19 season, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team. As relegated from last year's Premiership , Ross County came into the championship, as promoted from League One Ayr United and Alloa Athletic .
The title and promotion secured Ross County with which the recovery succeeded after a year. Dundee United , Ayr United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle qualified for the promotion relegation . Queen of the South took part in the relegation relegation . The FC Falkirk went straight into the Scottish League One from.

Relegation
Participants in the relegation games are the ninth place from this year's championship, Queen of the South and three teams from League One , Forfar Athletic , Raith Rovers and FC Montrose . The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following Scottish Championship season 2019/20 .
