The Scottish League One was played for the fifth time in 2017/18 as the third highest division of men's football in Scotland . The league was officially played as Ladbrokes Scottish League One . The league is one of the four leagues in the Scottish Football League after the Premiership and Championship . Which is followed League One from League Two . The season is managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 5, 2017. The season ended with matchday 36 on April 21, 2018.

In the 2017/18 season, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team. As promoters from last year's League Two , FC Arbroath and Forfar Athletic took part in League One . As relegated from the previous championship came the Raith Rovers and Ayr United .

    Participants in the relegation games were the ninth place from this year's League One, FC Queen's Park , as well as three teams from League Two , FC Peterhead , Stirling Albion and FC Stenhousemuir . The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following 2018/19 Scottish League One season .
