The Scottish League One was played in Scotland for the first time in 2013/14 as the third highest division of men's football . The league founded in 2013 replaced the Second Division and is one of the four leagues in the Scottish Football League after the Premiership and Championship . Which is followed League One from League Two . The first season was managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 10, 2013. The season ended with the 36th matchday on May 3, 2014.

In the 2013/14 season, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 matchdays. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team. As a climber from last year's third division , the Scottish record champions Glasgow Rangers came into League One. The relegated from the previous First Division Airdrie United completed the field of participants in the debut season.

Ten game days before the end of the season, the Rangers were able to celebrate their second promotion in a row with a 3-0 home win against Airdrieonians FC in front of 41,343 spectators at the Ibrox Stadium . The Rangers remained undefeated for the entire season, with a statistic of 33 wins and 3 draws, and a goal difference of 106 to 18, and with 39 points clear of the 2nd placed Dunfermline Athletic . The championship trophy was presented following the league game against FC Stranraer on April 26, 2014, and was dedicated to the club legend Sandy Jardine , who had died two days earlier .
