Lee Wallace (born August 1, 1987 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish football player . The defender plays on the left, but is also often found in the left midfield.

Career

Wallace moved from the Hearts youth team to the professional team in July 2004. In the following 2004/05 season he made his debut in the game against FC Kilmarnock in the Scottish FA Cup . He became an integral part of the first team in his first season after he was able to oust Takis Fyssas .

In the summer of 2006 rumors surfaced that Wallace would join Dundee United . The change did not materialize and Wallace became more and more a regular player. On May 1, 2009, he extended his contract to 2012. He is now vice-captain of the team after Michael Stewart left the club.

He was seriously injured in his knee in a qualifying match for the 2012 European Football Championship against Liechtenstein. The first investigations showed that he would have to pause the entire 2010/2011 SPL season .

In the summer of 2011 Wallace signed a five-year contract with the Glasgow Rangers .

On June 14, 2019, Wallace moved to the English second division side Queens Park Rangers after eight years in Glasgow .

National team

Wallace was part of the Scottish youth teams U-19 to U-21. At the U-19 European Football Championship in 2006 , he played with the Scottish team in the final, where they lost to Spain. He was used in every game in the tournament.

He played his first international match for the Scottish national football team in October 2009 against Japan in Yokohama.

Private

In August 2006, Wallace was charged with a firearms offense. Three months later he admitted to having an air rifle and was sentenced to £ 1,500. In May 2009 he was arrested for trespassing in a nightclub in Edinburgh. He allegedly threatened to shoot the bouncer. However, this charge was later dropped and Wallace was fined £ 1100 for insulting the guards.
