In the position of the left winger he made his debut on March 9, 2013 (1st matchday) at the age of 16 in a 0-0 draw against Athlone Town in the second-highest Irish division. In the next league game he scored his first goal for Mervue United as a striker in a 2-1 home win against SD Galway . In that 2013 game year he scored nine goals in 26 league games.
For the next 2014 season, the 17-year-old Manning joined league rivals Galway FC . He was mostly used as a striker and was able to convince despite a low yield of three goals in 21 league games. With the third place in the table, the Tribesmen qualified for the promotion playoffs , where they could defeat Shelbourne FC in the semi-finals with an aggregate result of 3-1. In the first leg of the final against UC Dublin , he scored in stoppage time to win 2-1 away. Manning also scored again in the 3-0 home win in the second leg and was promoted to the top Irish league with Galway. During his time in Ireland, the young Manning was repeatedly associated with various English clubs.
Moved to the Queens Park Rangers
On January 8, 2015, Ryan Manning's move to English first division club Queens Park Rangers was announced, where he signed a two-and-a-half year contract. In the remaining 2015/16 season he did not make his competitive debut and his new club had to accept relegation to the second-rate Football League Championship as bottom of the table . He also waited in vain for his first appearance in the following 2015/16 season .
In the first half of the 2016/17 season he was also not taken into account. The head coach Ian Holloway , who was hired in November 2016, finally enabled Manning to make his professional debut on December 31, 2016 (25th matchday) in a 2-1 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers . Holloway praised the performance of Manning used as the central midfielder after the game. In the next league game on January 21, 2017 (27th matchday), he scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw in the West London derby against Fulham FC . During this season he made 18 league appearances in which he scored once and was able to prepare two more goals.
Ryan Manning was unable to take the upward trend of the last six months into the 2017/18 season . In the first half of the season he was only used sporadically. On February 3, 2018 (30th matchday), he flew in a 1-0 home win against Barnsley FC four minutes after his substitution with " smooth red " after he had fouled opponent Matt Mills . He was suspended for three games but gradually returned to the starting line-up upon his return. On November 3, 2018 (Matchday 16), he turned a 0-1 deficit in the home game against Swansea City into a 2-1 win with two late penalty goals . After 18 league games as central midfielder, in which he scored four goals, he was recalled by the Queens Park Rangers on December 31, 2019.
Return to the Queens Park Rangers
In the West Londoners he was only used sporadically and only penetrated towards the end of the season on the position of the left full-back in the starting lineup. For the Superhoops , he completed nine league games this season. The new head coach Mark Warburton planned Manning completely in this position in the next season 2019/20 , exploiting Manning's experience in the wing game and using him as an attacking defender. He established himself as a regular and did not miss a single minute of the game in the first half of the season.
