Mark Warburton (born September 6, 1962 in London ) is a former English football player and current coach .
Career
As a player
Mark Warburton began his career in the 1970s in the youth of Leicester City . In the 1980s he played in the position of central defender for FC Enfield and FC Boreham Wood in English non-league football . Due to a cruciate ligament injury , he ended his career as a player prematurely.
As a trainer
Before Warburton became a trainer, he worked as a broker in London and New York City . In December 2013, Warburton was introduced as the new coach of Brentford FC after Uwe Rösler moved to Wigan Athletic during the current season . In the summer of 2015, Warburton moved as a coach to the Scottish second division club Glasgow Rangers . Warburton was the 15th coach in the club's history since 1872, and the first Englishman on the coaching post. He helped the Rangers to the second division title and victory in the Challenge Cup in their first season . After the successful season, the contract in Glasgow was extended early. On February 10, 2017, the club announced the resignation of Warburton. A month later he took over the coaching position at the English second division club Nottingham Forest , where he was dismissed nine months later.
In May 2019 he took over the coaching position at the second division side Queens Park Rangers .
