The Scottish Championship was played for the third time in 2015/16 as the second highest division of men's football in Scotland . The league is officially played as the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship . The league follows the first-class Premiership and is above League One and Two , making it one of the four professional leagues within the Scottish Football League . The season is managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 8, 2015. The season ends with the 36th matchday on May 1, 2016.
In the 2015/16 season, ten clubs will play against each other for a total of 36 match days. Each team plays twice at home and twice against every other team. Relegated from last year's Premiership coming FC St Mirren in the Championship , as newly promoted from the League One takes Greenock Morton at the Championship part.
On matchday 32, the Glasgow Rangers secured arithmetically the championship with a 1-0 home win against FC Dumbarton . Four years after their forced relegation, the Rangers achieved promotion to the first division in Scotland. The championship trophy was presented to the Rangers following the league game against Alloa Athletic on April 23, 2016. FC Falkirk , Hibernian Edinburgh and Raith Rovers qualified for the promotion relegation . The FC Livingston is in the relegation relegation compete. Alloa Athletic was relegated directly to Scottish League One on matchday 32 .

The winners of the first round played in the last round for a place for the following Scottish Championship season 2016/17 .
