The Scottish Football League Division Two was played for the 49th time in 1954/55 . After the introduction of Division One , it was also the 49th edition of the men's second-highest football division in the Scottish Football League under the name Division Two . In the 1954/55 season 16 clubs competed against each other in a total of 30 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted . The championship won the Airdrieonians FC , who secured promotion to Division One together with the runner-up Dunfermline Athletic . Brechin City replaced FC Dumbarton, which had been withdrawn in the previous season . The top scorer with 34 goals was Hugh Baird of Airdrieonians FC.
