The Scottish Football League Division Two was played for the 69th time in 1974/75 . After the introduction of Division One , it was also the 69th and at the same time the last event as the second highest football division for men in the Scottish Football League under the name Division Two . From the 1975/76 season , Division Two was continued under the name Second Division . Due to the restructuring within the Scottish league system and the establishment of the Premier Division , the Second Division was only the third highest league in Scotland .
In the 1974/75 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted . The championship was won by FC Falkirk , who secured promotion to the First Division together with the up to sixth place teams. The teams from seventh to twenty played in the second division the following season. The last top scorer was Ian Reid of Queen of the South with 27 goals .
