The Scottish Championship will be played for the 8th time in 2020/21 as the second highest division of men's football in Scotland . It is also the 114th edition of a second division football within the Scottish Football League . The league is officially played as the Scottish Championship and follows the first-class Premiership . It is above League One and Two as one of the four professional leagues within the Scottish Football League.

The season is managed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association and begins on October 17, 2020 and ends in May 2021.

In the 2020/21 season, ten clubs will compete against each other on a total of 27 match days. Each team plays once at home and away against each other. Then another nine game rounds are completed. As relegated from last year's Premiership , Heart of Midlothian will take part in the championship, as relegated from League One, the Raith Rovers .
