The Palmerston Park is the football stadium and ownership of Scottish soccer club Queen of the South in Dumfries . The sports facility currently offers 8,690 seats; this includes 3,377 seats. Since it was founded in 1919, the club has played its games in Palmerston Park. The square has been used for soccer games since the 1870s.

history

The venue has four grandstands, three of which can currently be used. In 1921 the club bought the stadium for £ 1,500  after the club sold four players to Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa . In 1995 one inaugurated the new main stand (today: Dumfries and Galloway Standard Stand ); which replaced the old Coo Shed stand . The Galloway News stand in the east is partly the location of the places for the guest fans. The main grandstand at that time had to be replaced after a fire in 1964. The Portland Drive Terrace is a classic English standing room with a roof; as found in almost every UK stadium before the Hillsborough disaster and the Taylor Report that followed. The uncovered standing rank Terregles Street End is closed due to its poor condition. The attendance record dates back to February 23, 1952, when the Scottish FA Cup game of the third round against Heart of Midlothian drew 26,552 visitors to the stadium.
