The Dens Park (full name: Dens Park Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Scottish city of Dundee . It has a capacity of 11,506 spectators. Dens Park opened in 1899 and is one of the oldest stadiums in the country. It is the home of Dundee FC .
history
In 1899, Dundee FC moved from their previous home at Carolina Port to Dens Park . The stadium is located on Sandeman Street just 300 meters from Tannadice Park , home of city rivals Dundee United . Several renovations have been made to the stadium over the years. After promotion to the Scottish Football League in 1998 , the stadium had to be adapted to the requirements of the league in terms of seating capacity. The two standing bars behind the goals were torn down and replaced with stands with 3,000 plastic seats each. The new ranks were named after the club's former coach, Bob Shankly (1959-1965), and former player Bobby Cox (1956-1968). The names of the stands were chosen by the fans. In 2005 the pitch was heated under the turf .
Visitor record and average attendance
The record visit came in February 1953. 43,024 visitors gathered in the stadium for the game in the Scottish FA Cup FC Dundee against the Glasgow Rangers .
