The Scottish Football League First Division was played for the 19th time in 1993/94 as only the second highest Scottish league . It was also the nineteenth edition of the men's second division football in Scotland under the name First Division . In the 1993/94 season, 12 clubs competed against each other in a total of 44 matchdays. Each team played four times against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .

It was the last season in which the 2-point rule applied. The championship was won by FC Falkirk , which also secured participation in the 1994/95 Premier Division season . FC Dumbarton , Stirling Albion , FC Clyde , Greenock Morton and Brechin City had to relegate to the Second Division . The top scorer with 19 goals was Peter Duffield of Hamilton Academical .
