Hamilton Academical (officially: Hamilton Academical Football Club ) is a professional football club from Hamilton , Scotland . The association was founded in 1874.
The Accies have played at New Douglas Park since 2001 , which was built on the site of the old Douglas Park and was home to Hamilton between 1888 and 1994. In 1971 the club attracted international attention when it signed three Polish players as the first club from Great Britain to sign footballers from the Eastern Bloc . In 2008 the club managed to return to the top division, the Scottish Premier League, after 20 years . At the end of the 2010/11 season, Hamilton was relegated in last place, but was able to repeat the success of 2008 in the 2013/14 season and has played in the Scottish House of Lords since the 2014/15 season.
