The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the third time in 1992/93 . The Scottish football competition, officially held as the B&Q Challenge Cup , began on October 6, 1992 and ended with the final on December 13, 1992 at the Love Street stadium in Paisley . The defending champion was Hamilton Academical , who won against Ayr United in the previous year's final . The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition. In this year's final, Hamilton Academical was able to win the title for the second time in the third edition, in the final the team defeated Greenock Morton .
