The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 22nd time in 2012/13 . The cup competition, which was officially held as the Ramsdens Challenge Cup , began on July 28, 2012 and ended on April 7, 2013. The defending champion was FC Falkirk, who won last year in the final against Hamilton Academical . The clubs of the Scottish Football League and two clubs from the Highland Football League participated in the competition, this year FC Inverurie Loco Works and FC Wick Academy . Queen of the South won the title for the third time, in the final the club from Dumfries Partick defeated Thistle on penalties .
