Steven Lawless (born April 12, 1991 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player who is under contract with Burton Albion .
Career
Steven Lawless began his career with Motherwell FC . While playing for the club's U19s, he got a professional contract in 2010. Previously, Lawless was the top scorer in the U19 Premier League in 2009/10. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he was awarded to the Scottish fourth division club Annan Athletic . For the club he only played one game each in the League Cup and Challenge Cup . Lawless was then loaned to the Albion Rovers . For the club, also playing in the fourth division, he scored his first goal as a professional in February 2011 when he met Annan Athletic in the game against his previous loan club. In the promotion play-offs of the 2010/11 season , the Rovers prevailed against Annan Athletic and rose to the third division. There the Rovers secured relegation in the following 2011/12 season.
After his two-year loan to the Rovers in Coatbridge , the second division Partick Thistle signed him . In the very first season with his new club, he was promoted to championship in the Scottish Premiership . Lawless was the team's top scorer with 13 goals along with Kris Doolan . In the following seasons he stayed with the club from Glasgow in the first division and was used regularly.
In May 2015, Lawless was banned from the Scottish Football Association for several weeks after placing match bets.
After six years at Partick, he left the club in May 2018. Before that, he failed in the relegation of the 2017/18 season against FC Livingston . The midfielder moved to this club in August of the same year. With the Livis he became a regular player immediately after his arrival. After two seasons he moved to England to Burton Albion .
