The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 19th time in 2009/10 . The Scottish football competition, which was officially held as the ALBA Challenge Cup , began on July 25, 2009 and ended with the final on November 22, 2009. The defending champion was Airdrie United, who won the previous year in the final against Ross County . The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition. In the final between Dundee FC and Inverness Caledonian Thistle , Dundee won the title for the second time since 1991 .
