The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 13th time in 2003/04 . The Scottish football competition, officially known as Bell's Challenge Cup was held, began on 2 August 2003 and ended with the final on 26 October 2003 at the McDiarmid Park of Perth . The defending champion was Queen of the South , who beat Brechin City in the final last year . The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition. In this year's final, Inverness Caledonian Thistle beat Airdrie United and won the Challenge Cup for the first time in the club's history.
