David Matthew Bingham (born October 19, 1989 in Castro Valley ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a goalkeeper . He is currently under contract with the LA Galaxy .
Career
Youth and college
Bingham played for his university's soccer team, the California Golden Bears , while at the University of California, Berkeley . In his first year at college he was the second goalkeeper behind Stefan Frei .
San Jose Earthquakes
Bingham signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer shortly after the MLS SuperDraft 2011 . Since the superdraft was already over, it was drawn in a special lottery procedure for the San José Earthquakes . He had been a fan of this club since childhood. After not playing a major role in the Earthquakes team in the first few years and having been awarded twice, he was able to establish himself as a regular goalkeeper in the course of the 2015 season.
National team
On February 5, 2016, Bingham made his debut for the United States national football team . The game against the Canadian national soccer team ended 1-0 for the USA.

Bingham has a sister. Kimberly Bingham is a former soccer goalkeeper who played on the United States women's national soccer team .
