Sacha Bryan Klještan (born September 9, 1985 in Huntington Beach , California ) is an American football player . He can be used both as an attacking midfielder and as a winger .

youth

Klještan played for the Region IV Olympic Development Program team. He then played college soccer with the Seton Hall Pirates , the Seton Hall University soccer team . In 2004 he was appointed to the NCAA Division I First-Team All-America selection and in 2005 he achieved three successes with the team in NCAA competitions. In the same year he signed the Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer and played briefly for Orange County Blue Star in the USL Premier Development League .

Chivas USA

The following year he was drafted into Major League Soccer in fifth place in the 2006 MLS SuperDrafts from CD Chivas USA . Here he became a regular player and at the end of the season was a candidate for the MLS Rookie of the Year Award . At the same time, he played his way into the US U-23 selection, with which he was able to successfully qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games . On June 2, 2007 he also made his debut in the US national team on the occasion of an international match against China .

In 2008 Klještan was nominated for the MLS All-Star Game , but waived due to the preparation for the Olympic football tournament to participate. In Beijing he failed with the Olympic selection in the group stage, where he was able to shine as a two-time goalscorer. In January 2009 he managed a hat trick in the senior team in a 3-2 international win against Sweden .

RSC Anderlecht

In July 2010 he signed a four-year contract with RSC Anderlecht . He made his debut on July 27 in the Champions League qualifier against The New Saints FC of Wales. Klještan also scored his first goal for the club. In the following seasons he established himself as a regular player and was able to celebrate the national championship three times.

New York Red Bulls

In January 2015, Klještan moved to the New York Red Bulls back in Major League Soccer. Here he won the MLS Supporters' Shield with the club in the same year as the team with the highest points of the regular season, but was later eliminated in the conference final against Columbus Crew .

Orlando City

After three years in New York, he joined Orlando City in 2018. In 53 games he scored seven goals here.

Los Angeles Galaxy

At the beginning of 2020, the former US international moved to California on a free transfer .
