Career

society

Insúa played at Boca Juniors as a youth . In 2006 the defensive all-rounder was included in the club's professional squad, but was not used. However, Liverpool scouts discovered his talent and in January 2007 he moved to the FA Premier League on loan . A loan fee of £ 100,000 and an option to buy at the end of the loan period in summer 2008 have been agreed. On April 28, 2007 Insúa made his Premier League debut in the away game against Portsmouth FC . As a result, he only made sporadic appearances in the Premier League, but was able to win the Premier Reserve League with the 2nd team of Liverpool FC . In June 2008, Liverpool took advantage of the purchase option and Insúa signed a 3-year deal with the Reds .

Insúa moved to Galatasaray Istanbul on the Bosporus for one year in 2010 .

On August 27, 2011, Liverpool announced that Insúa would join Sporting CP . There he signed a five-year contract until June 30, 2016. On January 25, 2013 Insúa moved to the Spanish first division club Atlético Madrid . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2016. Insúa was loaned to Rayo Vallecano on September 1, 2014 until the end of the 2014/15 season.

On July 11, 2015, he terminated his contract with Atlético de Madrid and moved to VfB Stuttgart . He signed a contract dated until 2018 with the Swabians. Insúa remained loyal to the Swabians despite relegation in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season and contributed in the 2017/18 second division season with nine assists for the offensive for top scorer Simon Terodde to the second division championship and direct promotion. After finishing seventh in the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart in the 2017/18 season , Insúa extended his contract with the club until 2020 with a mutual option for a further year. He scored his first goal for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga in the 3: 3 against SC Freiburg on September 16, 2018, the 3rd matchday of the 2018/19 season, after he had previously scored in the second division 3: 3 against Dynamo Dresden on April 2, 2017.

After re-descent of VfB Argentine to only six first round inserts came in the second division season 2019/20 and moved to four and a half years and 135 competitive games for the season 2020 in the Major League Soccer for the LA Galaxy .

National team

Insúa took part in the 2007 South American Championship with the junior selection. With a second place the selection qualified for the Junior World Championships 2007 and the Olympic Games 2008 . At the World Cup in Canada, he is part of the Argentine squad. Insúa played every minute of the tournament and eventually won the world title with the Argentine juniors. In spring 2009 he again took part in the U-20 South American Championship and led Argentina onto the field as captain in all nine matches. With just one win, however, the team finished in a disappointing sixth place and thus missed qualifying for the 2009 Junior World Championship in Egypt.
