Simon Terodde (born March 2, 1988 in Bocholt ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with Hamburger SV .

Career

MSV Duisburg

Terodde joined the first division team MSV Duisburg for the 2007/08 season . During the season he was not used. After MSV's relegation, he made his professional debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on October 19, 2008 against FC Ingolstadt 04 .

On January 8, 2009 Terodde extended his contract with MSV Duisburg until 2010. In order to collect match practice, he should be loaned to a third division club. First he completed a trial training at 1. FC Union Berlin , which he had to break off due to illness. It was later awarded to Fortuna Düsseldorf . There he came due to a serious injury to only eight missions in which he scored a goal.

1. FC Cologne

In July 2009 he signed a two-year contract with 1. FC Köln , where he was initially to be used in the Regionalliga West for the FC reserve. He made his debut in the first team on October 26, 2010 under Cologne's new coach Frank Schaefer , who had previously trained Terodde with the amateurs, in the DFB Cup . In the league he played 5 games for Cologne, 4 of them as a substitute shortly before the end.

1. FC Union Berlin

On May 19, 2011 Terodde's change to the second division club 1. FC Union Berlin was announced. He initially moved to the capital on loan for the 2011/12 season . After a convincing preparation for the season, a knee injury threw him back. In his first outing after the injury break, he scored his first goal in the second division on December 10, 2011 in the home game against FSV Frankfurt . Due to his good performance in the second half of the season with seven goals in 15 missions, the club decided to continue working beyond the end of the season and signed Terodde on April 9, 2012 from 1. FC Köln. He signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2015, which was valid for both the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer. He scored a total of 8 goals in his first season for Union and was, together with Silvio Carlos de Oliveira, the club's best scorer. In the following season 2012/13 he scored 10 goals for the Berlin club and was together with Torsten Mattuschka again top scorer of his team. In the 2013/14 season Terodde scored five goals for his club and was no longer considered after the subsequent coaching change from Uwe Neuhaus to Norbert Düwel and replaced by Sebastian Polter in the storm position.

VfL Bochum

For the 2014/15 season Terodde moved to the second division VfL Bochum . He scored 16 goals this season and was the second best goalscorer in the league behind Rouwen Hennings from Karlsruher SC . In the following season 2015/16 Terodde was top scorer in the 2nd division with 25 goals . In addition, the attacker made a novelty of two missed penalties in a second division game in the home game against Eintracht Braunschweig .

VfB Stuttgart

For the 2016/17 season Terodde moved within the 2nd division to Bundesliga relegated VfB Stuttgart . This season he was again top scorer with 25 goals and led his new club to the second division championship. His team-friendly style of play was praised. After promotion, Terodde signed a contract with VfB dated until 2019 with the option of an extension until 2020. In total, he made 15 first division appearances for the Stuttgart team in the first half of the 2017/18 season , in which he scored two goals, but was in the last games no longer regular players.

Return to 1. FC Köln

On January 1, 2018 Terodde returned to bottom of the table 1. FC Köln and signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2021. Terodde had 15 appearances for Cologne this season (5 goals) and at the end of the season relegated the team to the 2nd Bundesliga.

With his 112th second division goal (the 4: 1 against FC St. Pauli on matchday 21 of the 2018/19 season ) Terodde shot himself to 10th place in the record scorer list of the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2018/19 season he was the top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga for the third time with 29 goals this season and thus made a significant contribution to the second division championship and the promotion of 1. FC Köln.

After the promotion , the striker was again unable to build on his second division performance in the top German division in the 2019/20 season and was used more often as a substitute. Both Achim Beierlorzer and his successor Markus Gisdol increasingly relied on Jhon Córdoba and, after his commitment to the second half of the season, loaned player Mark Uth . Terodde made 23 Bundesliga appearances (7 times from the start), in which he scored 3 goals.

Hamburger SV

For the 2020/21 season Terodde returned to the 2nd Bundesliga and moved to Hamburger SV , where he received a one-year contract.
